OVERALL DESCRIPTION
The fine arts program at Ross is broken down into 4 components that incorporate the following: Aesthetic perception and response: students will learn to integrate the elements of art and the principals of design in their work. Creative Expression: spiraling sequences of activities; students find solutions to increasingly challenging problems appropriate to grade level. Arts Heritage: students learn to understand some of art’s basic purposes and forms. They will find out that artists through history have chosen a medium to communicate their experience. Students begin to think about the role of the artist in their society. Arts Valuing: students learn artistic ways to tell others about themselves and their world. Students will develop skills for making aesthetic judgments. They will keep portfolios of their work so they can observe and evaluate their artistic growth and development over time.
